The Tuensang District Amateur Boxing Association (TDABA) has urged Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) to reconduct fresh election of the Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association (NABA), alleging that the August 9 election has raised serious concerns about fairness,

transparency and accountability amongst the boxing community.

TDABA stated that allegation of vote manipulation and bias have tarnished the integrity of

the election process undermining the trust of athletes, officials and fans. Therefore the association demanded that an independent investigation be conducted into the allegations of vote manipulation and biasness. It called for a transparent electoral process to ensure the integrity of election.

“We, the TDABA, are deeply concerned about the integrity of our sport and the trust of

our athletes. We urge NOA to take immediate action to address this allegations and ensure a fair and transparency of election,” the organisation stated.

Earlier, the Shamator District Amateur Boxing Association (SDABA) has also alleged unfair practices in the NABA election and has demanded fresh polls.

Meanwhile, the Sangtam Union Tuensang Town (SUTT) has expressed concern and solidarity with the TDABA who despite being invited to the recent NABA election, were “unjustly denied right to cast their vote”. Stating that such actions undermine not only the legitimacy and fairness of the process but silence the aspirations of young talents of the district they represent, the SUTT affirmed that every member of any association must enjoy equal rights within the association, including the right to participate fully in the selection/election of its leadership.

Maintaining its firm solidarity with TDABA, the union further stated that it anticipates swift rectification and necessary remedial actions from Nagaland Olympic Association at the earliest.
