38th Senior National Tug of War C’ship underway in Maharashtra; Nagaland women team participates in senior category

Under the eagis of the Tug of War Federation of India (TWFI) 38th Senior National Tug of War Championship, 27th Sub – Junior & 38th Junior championships (Under- 13, 15, 17 & 19 years boys & girls & Mixed 4+4) got underway here at Sai Baba Educational Complex, Shirdi, Ahilyanaga, Maharashtra where a colourful grand ceremony was observed under a beautiful & pleasant weather.

TWFI President, Har Shanker Gupta unfurled the championship flag and open the championship open. Encouraging the athletes of 10 participating states approximately 600, Gupta was optimistic that Tug of War discipline being an international discipline is moving forward with more based international professional event and urged the gathered athletes to take up the discipline with sincerity and dedication.

Expressing his happiness over the Team India taking part in the upcoming World Outdoor Tug of War championship scheduled at Nottingham, England from September 4 to 7 next, he expressed hope that the Team would bring laurels to the nation and celebrate the victories together.

The championship will continue till August 25 where the winners in different categories will be selected to represent India in the forthcoming Asian Tug of War championship at Malaysia in the later part of the year.

Nagaland Women Team is participating for the first time under Senior 500 Kg category was made to be the flag bearer along with 3 other states during the opening ceremony.

Nagaland Team Manager, Kuzhovesa Soho has appealed to all Naga brothers and sisters to uphold the team in prayer. Team Nagaland will play tomorrow as per the fixture which will be updated by tomorow itself.

Nagaland Team will return home on August 27 morning.
