Congress MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka today expressed confidence that the people of Nagaland will rally behind the Congress Party in the coming years, saying they will “stand up for truth, stand up to save the Constitution, and definitely support the Congress.”

Interacting with media persons on the sidelines the “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” state level rally in Dimapur, Saptagiri exuded confidence about Congress’ future nationally and in Nagaland. He said in Nagaland during the general election they have seen how the people have voted and the people of Nagaland would stand up for the truth and also stand up to save the Constitution and definitely support the Congress party.

“We are in the process of reorganizing our cadres and giving them the necessary boost.  Our Congress President will be visiting Nagaland very shortly. And after that, definitely, there will be a wave of support for the Congress Party,” he said adding, “We won the Lok Sabha election and we are very confident of repeating the verdict in 2028. And in 2029, the Congress will be coming into power.”

Replying to a query whether vote chori can happen in Nagaland, Saptagiri emphasized that the Congress’ “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chor” campaign is aimed at exposing electoral fraud. “If we don’t stop them now, they will do the same in Nagaland and everywhere else. That’s why we are taking this fight to the streets,” he said, adding that the Election Commission refuses to listen, forcing the opposition to intensify public protests.

The Congress MP made a scathing attack on the BJP government at the Centre and alleged large-scale manipulation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, claiming that the ruling party “stole” 70–80 seats to keep Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in power.

Saptagiri said, “We are raising the issue because we have definite proofs of what happened in the election, in particular seats. We are sure that 70-80 seats were manipulated, where they have stolen the mandate of the people. They didn’t have the mandate, but due to the election commission and the Vote Chori with BJP, they managed to win some seats. Otherwise, Narendra Modi would not have been the Prime Minister.”

According to him, Congress’ internal survey had projected 290–295 seats for the party and its allies, while RSS’ internal assessment had placed the BJP at 200–205 seats. “Exit polls said 400-plus. But they got only 240, and with manipulation, they crossed that,” he alleged.

“Narendra Modi ji is the most autocratic Prime Minister in this country. And we had this rally today on Vote Chor Gaddi Chor. He’s been stealing votes, he’s been subverting the institutes, the Election Commission of India, CBI, ED, IT,” he said.

He accused the Modi government of passing “draconian laws” while the opposition was protesting in Parliament, including a bill that mandates the removal of any Prime Minister or Chief Minister jailed for 30 days. “This is clearly designed to target opposition leaders,” he said.

Responding to PM Modi’s allegation that Congress and RJD protect infiltrators from Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, Saptagiri shot back: “Who is controlling the borders? It’s Narendra Modi government, they’ve been in power for the last 11 years.

“They are complaining about infiltration and everything in Bihar, Jharkhand and other people. But it’s the Home Minister and the Prime Minister responsible for controlling the borders. And if they’re not doing a good job, they should leave the seat and then give it to someone who’s capable of controlling infiltration,” he said.
