The award presentation programme on Essay Writing Competition, Commemorating the 5th Anniversary of Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) Campaign was held at Town Hall, Meluri on August 30 last. The topics of the essay writing were: “Drug Abuse and its ill effects on the Society; My dream of a Drug Free Meluri” and “Why I must say No to Drug”.
Delivering a keynote address, Deputy Commissioner Meluri, K Mhathung Tsanglao stressed on activities to stay away from bad habits, such as drugs and Alcohol etc. Asserting that, NMBA is to foster a healthy discipline and Drug Free youth population he urged the students to join hands together to make Meluri a healthy living and drug free District.
All together 495 students from 11 schools under Meluri District participated in the Essay Writing Competition. The competition was categorised into two sections, Class 11 & 12 and Class 9 & 10.
Under the first category, Thsointhsi Yingpithonger of Class 12 from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School; Lütapi Thupitor of Class 12 from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School; and Atsalo Nyusou of Class 12 from Christian Mission Higher Secondary School & Jesika Trakha Class 12 from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.

The second category was bagged by Tawülo Pichhurü of Class 9 from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School; Suru Tangvah of Class 9 from Christian Mission Higher Secondary School and Tsüno Venuh of Class 9 from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
The awards were giving away by CDPO, Meluri, Thorhosie Kajiri and the programme was chaired by EAC, Meluri, Pipfusa Pojar.
