In celebration of National Teachers’ Day, the District Education Department, Wokha, organised a commemorative program at VDB Hall, Wokha, honouring the dedication and contributions of educators across the district on September 5.
Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Wokha, Echungbemo Erui, graced the occasion as the special guest. In his address, he emphasised the pivotal role of teachers in shaping society, particularly through grassroots interventions in early education. He spoke passionately about the importance of moral principles, professional integrity, and the seriousness with which educators must approach their responsibilities.
Highlighting the transformative power of education, he noted that teachers are not merely instructors but nation-builders who mould character, instil values, and guide future generations toward responsible citizenship.
The program began with a welcome address by District Education Officer, Wokha, Gwayhunle Tep, who acknowledged the tireless efforts of teachers and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to supporting quality education. A special prayer for teachers was offered by Rev. Father Stephen Chazhsseril, invoking blessings and strength for educators in their noble journey.
Cultural presentations were showcased by students from Government Middle School, Wokha Town C, and Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha, adding vibrancy and heartfelt appreciation to the celebration.
As part of the event, four distinguished teachers were honoured with awards for their exemplary service: Khonzani Tsanglao, PGT, Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha; Lipenthung Odyuo, Graduate Teacher, GPS Phiro; Y Benchumo Shitio, PT, Government Middle School, Okotso; and L Mhaden Jungio, Assistant Teacher, Regimental School, DEF Wokha
Vote of thanks was delivered by Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officer, Wokha, Raphael Zubonthung, who expressed gratitude to all participants, contributors, and guests for making the event meaningful and memorable.
The programme served as a heartfelt tribute to educators and reaffirmed the district’s collective commitment to nurturing a strong, value-driven education system.
Shamator:
Along with the rest of the country, schools all over the Shamator District celebrated Teacher’s Day by way of honouring them and with a prayer. The Government Middle School GMS Y Anner celebrated Teachers’ Day, organised by School Management Committee (SMC) led by L. Mukam Yimkhiung, Chairman of SMC.
Yimkhiung thanked all teachers for their sacrifices leaving behind their families and teaching our children which shows exemplary noble job. Unlike other years, now the village school has no proxy teachers; this is a huge change and he hoped that the village children will get quality education.
He also encouraged all the children to study hard and reach their aim or goal, as he cidesd thatmost of the Senior Gazette Officers of the Yimkhiung tribe have studied in government schools.
Meanwhile, while the Christian High School Shamator also celebrated Teachers’ Day with cultural and various activities, with an invocation by Kherikhumla. A speech on behalf of students was given by Ahola Yimkhiung, where she praised and honoured the teachers for their love and gentle guidance towards the students. Songs, choreography, dances, and traditional cultural display also add more colour to the celebration.

Asst. Teacher, Mukam, thanked the children for their love and for making the program warm and honouring them. He encouraged the children to focus on their aim in life as the road to success is never easy, but not impossible. The best teacher of the school was awarded to Kewongkhum from the school.
LSUN:
The Liangmai Students’ Union Nagaland (LSUN) organised the Combined Teachers’ Day cum Cultural Day on September 5 at Tening town hall under the theme “Honouring Wisdom, Celebrating Culture.”
The event was graced by ADC Tening, K Furhesie Nyuwi, NCS, as the special guest, with Samuel Nrak and Phuibamliu Nbung as the hosts.
In his address, the special guest highlighted the invaluable role of teachers in shaping society and encouraged students to uphold their cultural roots while striving for excellence in education.
The programme began with an invocation by Rev Wichampau Nchang, Executive Secretary of Liangmai Baptist Association (LBA), followed by greetings from Maisithuibo, President of LSUN.
A series of performances and speeches marked the celebration, including a special song from St. Francis de School, Tening, a speech on behalf of teachers was delivered by the Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, and short speeches from students representing SFS, Zeliangrong Heraka School, Baptist High School and Government Higher Secondary School Tening.
Cultural presentations added vibrancy to the event, with ZHST presenting a traditional dance and BHST presenting a special song. A presentation segment was also part of the programme.
The second session of the event was successfully conducted, featuring a series of competitions and activities aimed at encouraging creativity, expression, and talent among participants.
The session began with extempore speech and traditional howling competitions, where participants demonstrated confidence, originality, and entertainment, winning appreciation from the audience. This was followed by the segment “Open Stage to Showcase Your Talent”, which provided a platform for students to exhibit their skills beyond the competitive events.
Chandun Rentta, General Secretary of LSUN, delivered the Vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of participants, organisers, and judges.
The program concluded with a Benediction offered by Fr. Francis, Principal of SFS, invoking blessings for the success of the event and its participants.
Mon:

Department of School Education, Mon organised Teachers’ Day 2025 celebration, with the theme “Empowering Educators for a Progressive Future”, at Town Council Hall, Mon on September 5.
Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS graced the occasion as a special guest. He said it’s a special occasion honouring the remarkable contribution of educators around the world. It’s an opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation for their tireless effort, who dedicated their lives, shaping the mind and heart of our students.
“Teachers are the cornerstone of our educational system. Teachers inspired curiosity and cultivated a lot for learning, to reach full potential as well as responsible citizens,” he said and also encouraged teachers by citing the example of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a teacher.
“A teacher is not somebody who teaches in the class but apart from teaching, teachers also have some scope, aims and contribute a lot to nation building. Without teachers, our nation will not grow. He acknowledges all the teachers for their extraordinary commitment,” he said and saluted the teachers who are from far places, teaching and nourishing our people.
T Limawapang, PGT, GHSS Mon, while speaking on behalf of the Awardees, said that it is a day not only to show gratitude to teachers but also to pay tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was the founder of the Teachers’ Day. He appreciated the District Education Office for organising this programme and as a teacher, he encouraged all the teachers to reaffirm in their teaching profession.
Kemya T Konyak of St Mary’s School, Mon while delivering the significance of Teachers’ Day, thanked the teachers for their invaluable contribution to their growth and development. She said that it is a day to give tribute to those who shape our minds and inspire dreams. She added, teachers may not wear a cape but they are real-life heroes.

Tseminyu district organized Teachers Day cum Teachers Award celebration on September 5 at Baptist Higher Secondary School Tseminyu New Town with Additional Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu, Kikumsangla Jamir (NCS) as the special guest.
On this significant program, Principal GHSS Tseminyu, Hichulo Semy invoked God’s blessing, a welcome note by Principal BHSS Tseminyu, Wasenmo Apon and the Tseminyu District Teachers Award was given away by SDEO/DEO Tseminyu, Asao Seb, the two Teachers awardees were GT (Hindi) Agwale Khing GHSS Tseminyu and Primary Teacher Ruchuyhunle Kent GPS Kasha while words of gratitude were pronounced by AHM, GHS Kasha, Sohile Tep. The highlights of the day program were a special number by AG School Tseminyu, a cultural presentation by GHS Tseminyu New Town and an appreciation to my Teachers by Sosinle Cheng of class 9 (nine) GHS Kasha.
Pughoboto:

The Combined Teachers’ Day Celebration, organised by the Sub-Divisional Planning & Development Board (SDPDB) Pughoboto, was held with great enthusiasm at the Pughoboto Headquarters on September 5 with Dr Sukhato A Sema, MLA of 13 Pughoboto Assembly Constituency, gracing the occasion as the Special Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sukhato A Sema paid rich tributes to teachers, describing them as the “architects and pillars of society.” Reflecting on his humble beginnings as the son of a village school teacher, he shared his educational journey through a government primary school and credited his success and personal growth to the guidance and dedication of his teachers.
Reminding students of the significant role teachers play in shaping their future, Dr. Sema urged them to uphold the values of discipline, respect, and honour.
“Your success is not just your own,” he said, “but a catalyst for change in your families, churches, villages, and the society at large.”
The MLA also emphasised the critical role of students in the future development of society and encouraged them to work hard and aim high. He reiterated his commitment to improving the education sector, envisioning a future where every citizen has access to quality education and becomes a competent, contributing member of society.
Dr Sema further lauded the recent achievement of seven successful candidates from his constituency in the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) examinations. He congratulated them and attributed their success to the relentless efforts of their teachers.
The celebration began with an invocation by Ahovi Swu, Pastor of PTBC, followed by greetings from Tiameren Chang, NCS, ADC Pughoboto. Students from various schools presented special performances, adding colour to the event. Alovili H Wotsa from Mission School delivered a short speech on behalf of the teaching community, expressing gratitude and dedication to their noble profession.
A special prayer for teachers was offered during the program, and Hutoka Assumi, President of Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu, delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a benediction by Hukato Sheqi, Pastor of NCRC Pughoboto.
The day-long celebration served as a heartfelt tribute to the teaching fraternity, recognising their role in nation-building and shaping future generations.
GHSS Phek:

GHSS Phek celebrated Teachers’ Day at Town Hall Phek on September 5 with the theme “Inspiring the next Generation of Learners”.
Addressing the celebration program, Senior Principal, GHSS Phek, Kumar Uma Shankar spoke on the significance of teachers’ Day and said that Dr S Radhakhrishnan, born on September 5, was an exemplary teacher and philosopher who always identified himself as a teacher, despite his significant political achievements as India’s second President whose birth anniversary became Teachers’ Day.
Sr Principal of GHSS Phek encouraged the teachers to be proud of being teachers as builders of the Nation. He also spoke about the power of knowledge, which everyone earned from teachers.
Desi Dance, Entertainment and presentation of special song were the highlights of the celebration program.
A welcome song was presented by Higher Secondary/Science students, where a special prayer for Teachers was also conducted at the program.
Mutseveto and Tekhepe-u were co-hosts of the program. Kezivi, Science Teacher of GHSS Phek received a Meritorious award for dedication in his teaching services at the celebration program.
