A pivotal meeting of the Advisory Board of PGC was convened on September 9 in the Principal’s office at 1pm bringing together key stakeholders to address critical issues and strategise for the institution’s future developments.
The meeting was presided over by Rhosietho Nguori, NCS, DC, Phek HQ, and Chairman of the board. The gathering saw the presence of a distinguished assembly of members, including Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, 19 A/C Phek, President, Phek District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PDCCI), Chairman, Phek Town Council, President and members of Phek Town Public Forum, executives of the Phek Town Chakesang Students Union (PTCSU ) and members of the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The session commenced with a warm address by the Chairman, who underscored the collective responsibility in steering the college towards excellence. This was followed by a formal welcome note by Dr. K. Zumomo Ovung, Principal, PGC, setting the tone for the discussion to follow.
Dr. Levinu Sakhrie, Assistant Professor & IQAC Coordinator delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the current status, notable academic and extracurricular achievements of the college, and the significant challenges it faces. This presentation provided a crucial factual foundation for the ensuing deliberations.
Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, 18 A/C Phek, then addressed the gathering, emphasising the government’s commitment to supporting higher education in the district and assuring all possible assistance for the college’s development.

The meeting discussed pending incomplete construction of the college’s academic building and staff quarters; urgent need for repairing the college approach road to ensure smooth access for student and staff; measures for the protection of the college’s old campus, the reorganisation of the Advisory Board and frequency of its meetings to ensure sustained engagement, strategies to tackle declining students enrolment and resolving the water supply issue plaguing the campus.
Each point was discussed at length, with members contributing perspectives and suggestions.
Concrete action plans were laid out, assigning responsibilities and proposing viable solutions to move forward on these critical fronts.
The meeting concluded on a positive and collaborative note, with Mrs. Shepalu Suyie, Vice Principal, PGC expressing words of gratitude to all attendees for their insightful contributions and the Chairman adjourning the proceedings.
