The much-anticipated 4th edition of the Mokokchung Town Inter- Ward Volleyball Tournament will be held from October 8 to 10, 2025, at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
In a press release, the organizers informed that the tournament will be organized by the Kumlong Sporting Association (KSA) under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA), with the theme “Forging Champions.”
The Inter-Ward Volleyball Tournament is a unique event in Mokokchung Town, primarily aimed at identifying and encouraging hidden talents at the grassroots level. The tournament provides a platform for amateur volleyball players residing in the 18 wards of Mokokchung town. The release stated that despite being in its early years, the tournament has already contributed to promoting some players to represent Mokokchung at the district and state levels in the past couple of years.
The release also provided a brief history of the tournament. The inaugural edition in 2022 witnessed
Sungkomen Ward lifting the championship by defeating Artang Ward in the final. In 2023, Kumlong
Ward emerged as champions, denying Artang Ward the title for the second consecutive year. The 2024 edition saw Sungkomen Ward reclaim the trophy by defeating the defending champions, Kumlong Ward, in a closely contested final match.

The organizers have introduced a new regulation for the 2025 edition, allowing each participating team to include two non-resident players, with the condition that they must be Ao-Naga. With this change, the organizers stated that the level of competition is expected to intensify, making the contest for the championship open to all wards.
The press release further stated that the winners of the 2025 edition will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 along with a running trophy, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 30,000 with a running trophy.
Individual awards for Best Setter, Best Spiker, and Player of the Tournament will also be presented, carrying cash prizes of Rs. 3,000 each.
