Lend A Hand India, under the special pilot project of LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC-HFL) CSR, successfully conducted the 2nd Training of Trainers (ToT) on “Operationalizing Multi-Sector Skill Education in Grade 9 and 10 students aligned to National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023.”
The training program was hosted at St Paul School, Phesama, Kohima, from September 9 to 12, with the full support of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
As part of the multi-sector approach, the ToT covered three diverse modules — Fashion, Coding, and Healthcare. The expert training team from Lend A Hand India facilitated each of these modules over the first three days, and the participant trainees were given hands-on practical trainings on all the three modules. On the concluding day, a special session on pedagogy, lesson planning, and assessments was conducted to strengthen teaching practices in vocational education.
The program saw the active participation of 30 vocational trainers and subject teachers from 21 Government schools and 5 Private schools, representing 5 districts (Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kiphire and Peren). The ToT provided participants with in-depth knowledge and practical strategies to implement these skill-based modules effectively in classrooms.

Representatives from the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) were present on all four days of the training. Their presence and observations helped in gathering valuable insights into the pilot curriculum, further reinforcing collaborative efforts to integrate skill education into mainstream schooling.
On the last day of the ToT workshop on September 12, Academic Officer NBSE, Dziesevolie Tsurho, addressed the participants where he stressed on the importance of skilling our students to address unemployment problems. He also spoke about the evolving landscape of education, especially with the NEP 2020 and NCF 2023 giving strong emphasis on skilling and multi-disciplinary approach to education, thereby, highlighting the crucial need for the teachers to equip themselves well with multiple skills in order to effectively deliver quality education.
He encouraged the participants that once the planned reforms in vocational education are rolled out in full force, they will become assets to the education ecosystem, where their expertise and services will in high demand. He concluded with the lasting remark that the participants must endeavour to become the brand ambassadors for skilling in the state.
The valedictory session was graced by Dr. Chumbeni Kikon, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Directorate of School Education along with Academic Officer NBSE, Dziesevolie Tsurho and Fr Charles D’Souza, Headmaster, St Paul School. Certificates were handed to all participants.
