The 3rd Edition of FAND Cup 2025 kicked off on September 24 at public ground, Noklak. The Cup organized, under the theme “Goal for Glory”, by Football Association Noklak District aims to promote sports talent to a higher level. All together 18 teams with 360 players are participating in the Cup which is the highest participants for the Cup.
Special guest, Extra Commissioner Assistant (EAC), Noklak, Apuloka H Sumi noted that the tournament has become one of the most prominent football events in Noklak District bringing the spirit of togetherness amongst the players, fans and the community.
“What started as an initiative to promote sports has now become into a festival of unity, passion and talent,” he said.
While celebrating the 3rd edition of the FAND Cup, the EAC noted that it also celebrates the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience. He applauded that each team represents the pride of their villages, their blocks and their supporters that can reflect the story of determination, skill and pursuit of victory.
He emphasized that the FAND cup serves a much greater purpose by nurturing young and local talents and giving young players a platform to showcase their potential, to learn discipline and to dream bigger. From this field, the EAC hoped that future stars may rise who would not only represents NOKLAK but also carry the district’s name with pride at higher levels.

He stated that football is more than just a game, but a force that unites people, brings the younger generation together, and creates bonds of friendship. He further added that through the tournament they are reminded that the ‘Goal of Glory’ is not only about lifting the trophy but also about celebrating unity, harmony, and the shared joy among different villages and communities.

The EAC further thanked the organizers, volunteers and sponsors for their dedication and relentless efforts in making this 3rd FAND cup happen, while, he also extended his best wish to all the participating teams and players.

President, FAND, Okei informed that the 3rd edition FAND Cup 2025 year had witnessed the highest number of participating teams, with 18 teams and around 360 players taking part. He mentioned that the Khiamniungan community had shown great interest in football and expressed confidence that the sport could become a career for many youths, progressing from the state to the international level.
He pointed out that poor infrastructure and facilities remained a major obstacle. He stated that the condition of the playing ground was one of the biggest challenges and in the absence of modern turf grounds, many young players were losing their talents and skills.
The opening match of the tournament saw Nokmei Society Lengnyu, the defending champions, take on Strike Force FC. Living up to their reputation, Nokmei Society Lengnyu dominated the game and sealed a 3 -1 victory. With this win, the previous cup holders have once again proven their strength on the field.
The champion team of the tournament will walk away with a cash prize of ₹1 lakh and a trophy.
