The Sangtam Students’ Union Kohima (SSUK) held its Cultural Program today at the State Academy Hall, Kohima, under the theme “Araa Khu Wüang” (From Roots to Beyond).
In his welcome address, Longtili C Sangtam, President of SSUK welcomed the gathering and said that the celebration was not just about songs and dances but about honoring traditions, remembering elders, and strengthening unity among students and the community. He also informed that the present enrollment of Sangtam students in Kohima stands at 646.
Thsapongse Sangtam, President of Sangtam Union Kohima, in his short speech, expressed satisfaction with the program and encouraged the students to carry forward Sangtam culture and be ambassadors of their community while pursuing education.
Adekhing I Sangtam, President of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference, praised SSUK for organizing the grand program. He encouraged students to strive to be better citizens and to uphold peace and unity in society. He further announced his sponsorship for Sangtam students pursuing Ph.D. studies in History, Archaeology, and Anthropology.
Guest of Honour, T Imlikumzuk Sangtam, addressed the students saying, “Our today is our tomorrow.” He urged the students to be responsible, stay rooted in culture, and use digital platforms wisely for learning. He reminded the gathering that respecting parents, elders, and God is never outdated.

Highlighting the challenges of unemployment, he encouraged students to look beyond government jobs and competitive exams, to explore broader opportunities. He concluded with the words, “Success is for those who are ready to go the extra mile.”
The Sangtam Students’ Union Kohima expressed gratitude to the Guest of Honour for his presence and to the United Sangtam Students’ Conference, Sangtam Union Kohima, Sangtam Baptist Lithro Kohima, Eastern Nagaland Unions Kohima, and the various Area and Village Unions under Sangtam Union Kohima for their support and participation, which made the event more meaningful.
