The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has announced special coaching classes for students studying in class 10 in government schools. This initiative was introduced by the union during the 2nd Phase of its Education Wheel Tour which was conducted from 1st to 8th November 2022 under the theme ‘Education Reformation Vision 2021-2023’.
The coaching classes will be sponsored by KSU and will be held in the months of December 2022 and January 2023. There are 14 such schools under 10 areas in Mon district.

During the tour, the representatives from the Students’ Union visited Government High School (GHS)Tobu, GHS Bumei under Tobu Area, GHS Phomching under Phomching area, GHS Jaboka village under Tizit area and GHS Loakkun village under Tizit area.
During the visits, representatives of KSU also had interactions with the students and held meeting with stakeholders of the respective GHSs.

According to KSU, the most common grievances were shortages of teachers, transfer of teachers without reliever, non-appointment of headmasters and assistant headmasters, lack of proper infrastructure and dilapidated condition of schools.
The union sternly warned the schools to restrain from keeping proxy teachers and appealed the responsible authorities to appoint headmasters and to deploy adequate subject teachers to the schools.
KSU also warned if these demands are not met with, the union will be forced to shut down the Government-run schools under Mon district
