As part of the ongoing Mental Health & Well-Being Service Week observed from October 4 to 12, the Lions Club of Dimapur Elite, in collaboration with Dimapur 24/7, organized a talk show on mental health today at the Dimapur 24/7 office in Midland.
The resource person for the programme was Rashi Jain, Counselling Psychologist, Corporate Trainer (EAP), and Founder of Mindshift, who spoke extensively on the importance of understanding, addressing, and normalizing conversations around mental health.
In her presentation, Jain highlighted the meaning and significance of mental health and its close relationship with physical health. She pointed out that while awareness has grown in recent years, stigma continues to prevent many from seeking timely support.
“We must challenge the mindset that counselling is only for people with severe problems. Just like we see a doctor for our physical well-being, seeking mental health support should be seen as equally normal and necessary,” she said.

The talk covered a wide range of issues, including the benefits of good mental health, early warning signs that indicate a need for care, and the role of counselling in providing safe, confidential, and professional support. Jain also drew a distinction between counsellors, psychiatrists, and clinical psychologists to help participants better understand the different forms of mental health care available.
She further addressed common myths about mental health, discussed the role of social media and technology in influencing mental well-being, and stressed the responsibility of government, educational institutions, and communities in promoting mental wellness. Practical tips for managing stress and taking care of one’s mind were also shared with the participants.
The session included an interactive Question and Answer round, during which participants sought clarity on sensitive issues such as confidentiality in counselling, how to encourage hesitant individuals to seek help, and effective ways to support friends and family members experiencing stress or anxiety.
The programme concluded with a strong call for collective responsibility in breaking stigma and encouraging help-seeking behavior, while placing mental health at the center of overall well-being..
Dimapur 24/7, under the leadership of its Chairperson, Annie Jain, has been actively organizing and collaborating on initiatives related to mental health, education, and menstrual hygiene.
