Sao Chang Colleges organizes workshop on creative writing

The literary and magazine committee of Sao Chang College Tuensang successfully conducted one day workshop on creative writing held at college hall.

With Dr Inakali Assumi as a resource person, the workshop featured renowned author, researcher and educator. The workshop comprised two insightful sessions. Session one, titled “Techniques and insights on developing structure, characters and dialogue in writing”, explored the fundamental of creative writing.

Assumi discussed various structure techniques the six types of conflict in storytelling and the importance of creating vivid relatable characters. She stressed the significance of research in creative writing, highlighted the needs of writers to understand the context, society and people they write.

Session two titled “From editing to publishing: navigating the writers journey”, focused on the process and challenges faced by writers.

She encouraged participants to remain authentic in their voice, asserting that sensitivity is a strength rather than a weakness. She also advised aspiring authors not to rush into publishing but to take time to refine their work.

Dr Lanurenla, Principal of Sao Chang College, in her address, encouraged students to embrace the role of writers as the voice of the people emphasizing that “the voice of the writer is the biggest way to change the world.”

Participants actively engaged in collaborative group activities and shared their reflection making the workshop and interactive and enriching experience.

The workshop ended on a hopeful and inspired note leaving participants enriched with new perspective and motivation to pursue their creative writing journey.
