Nagaland University organises capacity building program on vigilance

Nagaland University organised a one-day capacity building program (Training of Trainers) on “Investigation & reporting, framing chargesheets, & conducting a CTE-type intensive examination” as part of the observation of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 on October 17  at the Conference Hall, Administrative Complex, Lumami.

The resource person was Tiamenla Phom, Additional Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, informed the press release issued by the NU PRO.  In a short speech, Prof. Jagadish K. Patnaik, VC of Nagaland University, exhorted the participants to go beyond the annual observance of Vigilance Week and practice vigilance with transparency at the workplace. Care should be taken to ensure that frivolous complaints do not destabilise the system and demoralize the University fraternity, but at the same time, everyone must work in such a manner that public trust in the system is sustained, he added. He also emphasized the need for strong institutional values.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by a training session led by the resource person. The standard procedures involved in ‘Investigation & reporting, framing chargesheets, & conducting a CTE-type intensive examination’ were expertly taught by the resource person, with practical examples and case studies, thus ensuring clarity and proper understanding by the participants.

The capacity building program ended with a vote of thanks from Er. Zajamo Yanthan, System Administrator of Nagaland University. It may be stated that the vigilance awareness week is being observed from October 27 to November 2, 2025, with the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility”. The various activities under vigilance awareness week are being led by Prof. Lanusashi Longkumer, the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Nagaland University.

Earlier, the inaugural ceremony was chaired by Dr. Rumi Dhar, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Law. The introduction of the programme was given by Kahoshe Sumi, Deputy Registrar (GAD), Nagaland University.
