18th Imchaba Master Open Volleyball Tournament from Oct 21

The volleyball faithful of Nagaland are primed for a four-day spike-fest as the 18th Imchaba Master Open Volleyball Tournament 2025 will be ignited at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex from October 21 to 24, pitting 14 of the state’s fiercest squads in a battle royale for Volleyball supremacy.

District heavyweights from Kohima, Tuensang, Zunheboto, and host Mokokchung will unleash a whirlwind of smashes, blocks, and dives, with under-the-radar “darkhorse” entries gunning to dethrone the established titans.

Reigning champions MH10 from Kohima enter as favorites is locked and loaded to defend their crown amid a revamped roster.

Coach S Tali Imchen revealed the team’s secret arsenal. “We’ve inducted two fresh spikers to inject new fire into our attack. The squad’s deep in intense prep mode-ready to grind for another title run,” he said.

Arch-nemeses Changtongya Volleyball Association (CVA) aren’t backing down, rolling out a hybrid lineup blending grizzled vets with hungry juniors. “We’re mixing fresh faces with our seniors, giving the young guns a shot to shine brighter than last year,” shared General Secretary Meyitiba. “This revamp could propel us past our previous performance,” he said.

Adding intrigue, powerhouse Chienino Brothers from Kohima’s volleyball hotbed Kiruphema village stage a triumphant return after a one-year hiatus, fielding dual Junior and Senior squads stocked with homegrown talent.

Rokvizo Dahou, exuded confidence and asserted “All local talents from Kiruphema—we are here to flaunt our skills, outdo our 2023 semifinal heartbreak, and snatch that glory with unyielding zeal.”

The village, often dubbed Kohima’s “Volleyball Capital,” brings a legacy of grit that could rattle the field.

The tournament fixture draw was unveiled on October 17 at the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association Treasurer’s residence, sets the stage for pool-play pandemonium:
