Organisations express outrage over murder of 22 year old, demands justice and safer spaces in Kohima

Following the murder of a 22 year old woman in Kohima on October 24/25, several organisations has condemned the act, demanding justice and urging authorities to expedite the investigation.

Jakhama Women Society

Condemning the murder of the daughter of its community, the Jakhama Women Society (JWS) shared that the victim was a gem of a child/person to the family and to their society.

“The heinous crime perpetuated towards a meek young girl with a promising future has shocked and shattered us to the core. This is a crime beyond a normal set of mind that demands immediate remedy through the arrest of the culprit/s. We are left with a feeling of insecurity, especially, the women and children,” stated the Society.

It ardently appealed to the law enforcing authorities to expedite the investigation with urgency to bring about tranquillity and deliver justice in the best time.

Kohima District Basketball Association

The Kohima District Basketball Association (KDBA) also expressed shock and sadness over the murder of its 22 year old, who was itsmember

A dedicated, disciplined, and hardworking player, the KDBA noted that the victim was a true team member who consistently gave her best while representing the district.

The Association condemned the brutal and lawless act, urging the concerned authorities to expedite their investigation, ensure the perpetrators face the full force of the law, and secure justice for the victim’s family.

It extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pledged its full support during the time of profound grief and loss.

Kigwema Youth Organisation

Condemning the murder, the Kigwema Youth Organisation  affirmed its solidarity with the family members, offering heartfelt condolences and full support.

The KYO urged law enforcement agencies through investigation and ensure justice is served at the earliest and that those responsible be held accountable for their crimes.

Nagaland State Commission for Women

Condemning the murder, the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) stated that it has taken suo-motu cognizance of the case and is closely monitoring all developments. It appealed the law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation and ensure that the perpetrator(s) of this heinous crime are brought to justice without delay.

The NSCW also sought the cooperation of the colony citizens and the general public in extending all necessary support to the investigating authorities to ensure a fair, transparent, and swift process of justice.

“Such acts of barbarity have no place in a civilized society, and the Commission stands in solidarity with the victim’s family in their time of grief, assuring them of every possible support in their pursuit of justice,” asserted the Commission.

Southern Angami Students Union

Expressing shock and outrage over the brutal murder, the Southern Angami Students Union (SASU) urged the State Government and Law Enforcement authorities to take immediate action to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, apprehend the perpetuator(s) and ensure they face the full force of law.

The Union further called upon the general public and civil organizations to work together to ensure that such heinous crime is not repeated and that the society becomes a safer place for everyone.

It also extended solidarity with the family and friends of the deceased and assured them of unwavering support during this dark hour.

Western Angami Youth Organisation

The Western Angami Youth Organisation strongly condemned the brutal and inhuman murder of the 22 years old, expressing outrage over the heinous crime and extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

“Such acts of cold blooded murder against innocent individuals are a grave violation of human rights and an affront to the values of humanity, justice and peace. We urge the law enforcing agencies to act swiftly and ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice at the earliest,” stated the organisation reiterating its commitment to promoting safety, dignity, and justice to all.
