A brazen attempted armed robbery was thwarted on Friday at the State Bank of India (SBI), Chedema branch, Kohima.

According to PRO, Kohima Police, an unidentified male suspect, armed with a pistol and threatening the use of a body-worn explosive device entered the bank and demanded money at approximately 12.30 p.m.

The swift and courageous intervention of the on-duty bank security guards prevented the robbery, police said adding, the guards successfully recovered the entire looted amount and seized the pistol from the suspect.

However, despite their efforts, the individual managed to escape from the scene.

A case has been registered at the North Police Station, Kohima, and a full investigation is underway to apprehend the suspect.

Kohima police has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any relevant information or suspicious activity to the Kohima Police immediately.
