Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem has issued an order stating that the commercial vehicles are required to have valid permits for operation and conduct of business.
It has been noted that many commercial vehicles in Kohima district are operating without valid permits, violating the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and other applicable laws.
Therefore, all commercial vehicle owners and operators within Kohima district are directed to renew their permits.
It further stated that the enforcement agencies have been requested to conduct verification drives and take strict action against vehicles operating without valid permits. And the order is effective immediately.

Traffic advisory
In another Order, DC Kohima stated that with reference to letter received from the office of NHIDCL, PMU-Jakhama, regarding traffic regulation at Phesama sinking area between Chainage: KM 192.050 to KM 192.150 on Kohima to Mao section of National Highway-2 for carrying out WMM and blacktopping works, the National Highway shall remain closed to all forms of traffic from 05:00 PM to 05:00 AM on 5th November, 2025 and 6th November, 2025.
Therefore, traffic advisory is hereby issued for information of general public as below:
All heavy vehicles, including military and para military vehicles, would be diverted towards Kidima – Kezo Town – BSF – DBS – High Court Jn. – 10th Mile – Peducha road for both way traffic.
All LMVs would diverted towards Phesama – Kisama/ Kigwema via Rhododendron Resort road for both way traffic.
