The 35+ Mokokchung Football League (MFL) Season 6 concluded on November 9 with a closing ceremony held at Aongza Ki, Mokokchung, marking the successful completion of another season for players aged 35 and above. The event featured three major highlights — the culmination of Season 6 with Revenant FC emerging as champions, the conclusion of the 1st Super Cup 2025 won by Wasang FC, and the official launch of the 35+ MFL Vision League, aimed at nurturing young football talents in Mokokchung.
The 35+ MFL Vision League, dedicated to players under 13 years of age, aims to nurture young football talents in Mokokchung and will be played under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA). The league is fully sponsored by LONGTEROK Sports Management, led by Temjenmoa, proprietor of Nagaland Minerals and Mines. The unveiling of the Vision League Trophy was done by Ajay Moktan, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Mokokchung.
Convenor Tiakumzuk described the launch as “a fitting way to close Season 6, not with an ending, but with a beginning,” stating that the league represents a long-cherished dream of introducing structured football for ‘young feets’ in Mokokchung.
Scheduled to commence by the end of November 2025 and extend into early 2026, the 35+ MFL Vision League will feature six clubs—Rising Phoenix FC, Speedy Cheetahs, Mini Marvels, Tenacious Titans, Daring Dolphins, and Agile Avengers, competing in a 7-a-side format. Most of the young players will be drawn from the 120 participants of the U-13 football coaching clinic jointly organized by 35+ MFL and Barak FC in June 2025 under the guidance of Barak FC Head Coach, Brando.
Tiakumzuk expressed gratitude to LONGTEROK Sports Management and Temjenmoa for their sponsorship and to the MDFA for their support and partnership in realizing the Vision League initiative.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Vesupra Kezo, NPS, sharing his ‘reflections,’ expressed that it was a privilege to be associated with the 35+ Mokokchung Football League (MFL). For the first time, playing for Nova SC, he described his seven-month-long season, as exciting and well-organized, filled with action, challenges, and valuable lessons.
He said “On the pitch, we competed as rivals, but off the field, we built strong bonds and friendships.” He added that the league helped players stay physically fit, disciplined and strengthened relationships among teams.
Kezo expressed pride that some players from the 35+ MFL also took part in this year’s MDFA tournament and performed well. He further noted that the league has helped bring positive lifestyle changes among players, reducing unhealthy habits and promoting discipline through football, which he described football ‘a great teacher.”
He informed that Nova SC secured third place in the first 35+ Super Cup and said his team valued teamwork and continuous improvement.
He extended appreciation to the convenor for his commitment, to the referees for their service, and to Unique Bakery for sponsoring the Man of the Match awards throughout the season. He also congratulated Revenant FC for winning the Season 6 title.
Concluding his address, Kezo urged everyone to support the newly launched Under-13 35+ MFL Vision League, stating that as senior players, it is their responsibility to guide and inspire the younger generation to build a strong foundation for Mokokchung football. He called on all members to collectively support the grassroots initiative and make it their shared motto to nurture young talent and help make Mokokchung a growing hub for football.
In his welcome address, Convener of the 35+ MFL Season 6, Aongsen Aier highlighted that the league has grown promoting healthy living, physical fitness, and community bonding among players. He said the league has helped to discourage unhealthy habits and upholds the motto of “Fitness, Friendship and Fellowship.”
He also informed that the six clubs successfully completed the season and also successfully held the Under-14 coaching clinic in June, and shared that the 35+ MFL Vision League is set to begin soon.
The closing ceremony was hosted by Dr. Imlinchiet and Imnatola. Akangtemsu Yaden, Youth Director of MTBA Youth Ministry pronounced the invocation. Akumsen Lemtur presented a musical interlude, Temjen Lemtur presented a rhythmic narration followed by an expression of gratitude from Chuba Phom, Member of the Organizing Committee.
35+ Mokokchung Football League (MFL) Season 6 Champions announced
A total of 25 matches were played throughout the season, which saw Revenant FC emerge as the champion, receiving the trophy along with a cash award, while New Ecclesia finished as the runner-up and also received a trophy and cash award. In the award categories, Talilepba of Revenant FC was adjudged Best Goalkeeper, Tiayanger of Revenant FC received the Best Defender award, Tongpangkokba of Revenant FC was named Best Midfielder, and Moatemsü of New Ecclesia earned the Player of the League title. The Highest Scorer recognition went to Arennungsang of Revenant FC with an impressive 30 goals scored throughout the season, while the Fair Play Award was presented to Nova SC, marking their second time receiving the honour.
The 1st Super Cup 2025 concluded with Wasang FC emerging as the champion, receiving the trophy along with a cash award, followed by Revenant FC as the first runner-up and Nova SC as the second runner-up, both of whom also received trophies and cash awards. A total of five matches were played during the tournament. In the individual award categories, Tongpangkokba of Revenant FC was named Best Midfielder, his teammate Sentiyanger received the Best Defender title, Imtiyanger of Wapang FC was awarded Best Player, and Imosanen of Wasang FC was adjudged Best Goalkeeper.
Super Cup 2025 final match Highlight
The 1st 35+ MFL Super Cup 2025 was played on November 8, 2025, at Renpo Lu Astroturf ground, Ungma.
The final match ended in a 2–2 draw, Wasang FC defeated Revenant FC 4–2 on penalties to lift the inaugural Super Cup 2025 trophy.
Chubangangnen of Wasang FC was the standout performer, netting both goals for his side in the 8th and 75th minutes, while Sentiyanger (30’) and Rongsenchiba (68’ penalty) scored for Revenant FC.
In the third-place match, Nova Sporting Club (Nova SC) secured victory over Terokroker FC with a 3–2 scoreline, thanks to goals from Johney Meitei (5’) and Imlitemsu (50’, 61’).
