Wrestling coaching camp underway in Tuensang

A wrestling Coaching Camp is underway in Tuensang organized by the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) in collaboration with the Chang Wrestling Association (CWA).

The Coaching Camp commenced from November 10 and will continue till November 13, informed a press release Seyielhouvi Nagi, Publicity Secretary, Nagaland Wrestling Association. The camp will emphasis on Freestyle Wrestling and Greco Roman Wrestling along with Traditional Naga Wrestling.

The coaching camp is attended by both men and women wrestlers from the Chang community with Kikhwesül Thokhwe, Co-opted Technical Secretary of NWA as the coach.

The Chang Wrestling Association (CWA) is headed by Er. Chingmak, EE Water Resources as the President and functions under the aegis of Chang Sports Association (CSA), which is the apex sports body.

The NWA also informed that the Chang Wrestling Association (CWA) is one of the five newly formed wrestling units which was given provisional affiliation by the Nagaland wrestling Association (NWA).

An inaugural programme was held at Multipurpose Hall Tuensang which was attended by the participating wrestlers and officials of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) and Chang Wrestling Association (CWA). A keynote address was delivered by Rangsilang Ikierembe, Property Secretary of NWA where he encouraged the wrestlers to take up wrestling as a profession. He also highlighted the scope and potential of wrestling at the state, national and international level. He further highlighted the progress of wrestling in the state and emphasized the participating wrestlers to prepare and participate at the various upcoming wrestling events and championships at the State, National and International level.
