Mokokchung DPDB meeting held

The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Mokokchung District was held on November 15, at DC’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung under the chairmanship of Nuklutoshi Longkumer, MLA & Chairman DPDB Mokokchung.

The meeting commenced with a minute of silence prayer to pay tribute to Late Advisor, Imkong L Imchen.

Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS welcomed the new members to the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner also acknowledged the contributions of Late Advisor, Imkong L Imchen for the District and the state. The DC stated that his contribution towards the state over his long and illustrious career of public service will be remembered in the years to come.

The agenda for the meeting began with the review of the last meeting minute, which includes the preparation for the upcoming 25th edition of Dr T Ao trophy, to be hosted by Mokokchung District next year.
On Nishay Mitra, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged the members to adopt TB patients to support treatment for a minimum period of six months with any kind of support they want to give. He also urged all the departments for holistic development of government schemes and to work collectively to achieve positive outcomes. He mentioned that cultivated areas, water conservation and irrigated areas need to be identified and recorded.

The house approved the registration of Riongsanger Cultural Society Mokokchung; Upgradation of Chuchuyimlang Block into Sub- Divisional status under Agriculture Department; proposal for the construction of a godown at Chuchuyimpang Town for storage and distribution of food grains, were forwarded to the concern department for necessary action.

The board also decided to acknowledge and award the best performing/innovative officials to encourage co-operation and to compete among the various departments

The DPDB meeting coincided with the celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, which is held on November 15 to mark the 150 birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. In this regard, a PowerPoint presentation on celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas was delivered by Ajay Moktan, IAS Assistant Commissioner Mokokchung.

Ajay gave a detailed presentation on the contribution, courage and sacrifices of tribal (Janjatiya) communities in the nation’s history and freedom struggle. He stressed on the objectives of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, which includes recognizing the rich tribal heritage of India, highlighting the contribution of tribal freedom fighters in order to foster pride among tribal communities.

He also highlighted on the key activities observed including activities carried out under DAJGUA, Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan and Jan Sunwai (people’s hearing), a grievance redressal mechanism (GRM) whereby governance is aligned towards citizen – centricity.

District Planning Officer Mokokchung, N Chuba Phom informed the board that the programme for the Advent Christmas 2025 will be held at Metsuben Resort, Chuchuyimpang, Mokokchung on December 5, 2025.

District Agriculture Mokokchung also presented a PowerPoint presentation on the Departmental activities. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the Deputy Commissioner.

Later MLA & Chairman DPDB Mokokchung along with DC, Sr SP, ADC and other officials inspected the ongoing construction site of Dr Imkongliba Memorial Hospital to review the progress of the work.
