Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) today held an emergency Central Executive Council meeting at Konyak Union Conference Hall, Mon. In the meeting, the house strongly reaffirmed the 26 August and 14 October resolutions.
The emergency meeting was convened to discuss on the crucial resolution adopted on 26 August and 14 October to abstain from participating in any Central and State election processes and the Hornbill Festival in Kisama, Kohima from 2022 onwards, unless the demand for a separate statehood is granted by the Government of India.

ENPO to demand resignation of 20 EN MLAs; Org to abstain from participating in Hornbill Festival
The resolution to abstain from participating in any election processes of the central and state governments was adopted in the 26 August 2022 ENPO-CEC meeting held at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur.
In the 14 October 2022 ENPO-CEC meeting held at CKS Hall Tuensang, the ENPO had strongly reaffirmed and upheld the 18 December 2007 Tuensang Summit ENPO Resolution which states, “there should be no bloodshed, threat, intimidation or any form of violence within Eastern Nagaland jurisdiction.”
The resolution to abstain from participating in the Hornbill Festival was adopted in the 14 October 2022 meeting due to the “hardships faced by participants from the Eastern Nagaland region every year”.
After comprehensive analysis on the power point presentation made by Rev K Chingmak Chang & marathon deliberation on the Statehood Demand, the house concluded to reaffirm on the said resolution stating that “it’s a people movement” and the resolution shall be carried forward more aggressively.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister on 5 November had convened a meeting with the Legislators of Eastern Nagaland in the presence of the ministers and advisors, the Chief Secretary, the advisor of Tourism and Art & Culture and department officials, the Director General of Police and the Home Commissioner to discuss issues related to the participation of cultural troupes of the seven tribes from Eastern Nagaland.
Sources informed that the government is appealing to the ENPO to withdraw its 14 October resolution and participate in the Hornbill Festival. The ENPO CEC meeting also concluded on not retracting its resolution but have once again reaffirmed that it will not participate in the state level Hornbill Festival.
Earlier, the meeting was chaired by the vice president of ENPO with the invocation delivered by the pastor of Konyak Baptist Church Mon Town.
A brief speech was delivered by Recording Secretaries S Y Sipong Chang and Yansomong Yimkhiung, Secretaries, ENPO. The welcome and keynote address was delivered by the President of ENPO. The Executive Secretaries were graced for commitment and guidance.
