The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), along with the 77th General Session Planning Committee and Federating Officials, recently conducted an inspection of the ongoing preparations for the 77th USSC Conference at Tütheze Village in the Longmatra Area of Kiphire District on November 11.
The 77th USSC General conference is set to be held under the theme “Roots, Reflect, Rise.” (Honouring our Heritage, Embracing Growth, Rising with Purpose) from January 13 to 15, 2026.
President of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference, Adekhing I Sangtam, delivered a pep talk to the team, the hosting village, and the planning committee. He lauded their diligence, sacrifice, and hard work, and encouraged them to put in extra effort to ensure that the 77th General Session becomes a meaningful and successful event dedicated to Peace and Unity, as well as the growth and development of students and the wider community.
To mark the gathering, the USSC body passed a significant resolution concerning the Healthcare sector.
The resolution mandates that within the Sangtam jurisdiction, “No Doctor, Nurse, or Medical Staff member shall be permitted to keep a replacement or practice self-styled duty shifting, leaving the health care centre with a single or limited staff.”
This resolution was passed in light of the fact that the right to fundamental healthcare has been severely compromised within the Sangtam jurisdiction due to the acute shortage of Doctors and Nurses.
With limited medical resources available, the Conference emphasised that these resources must be utilized efficiently and responsibly.

The Conference further noted that due to staff absenteeism and the lack of proper medical facilities, citizens are compelled to travel to distant locations such as Mokokchung, Kohima, and Dimapur. This long distance travel often on poor or incomplete road puts patients’ lives at significant risk and results in severe negative consequences for the people and the community.
The Conference, therefore, calls upon every concerned citizen and the relevant authorities to ensure that this crucial resolution is effectively implemented for the welfare of the community under the Sangtam Jurisdiction.
