In an official joint letter issued on Thursday, the three former district BJP unit presidents namely, Tingsangai Pamei, Yathungo Kikon and Seyiekhrielie Naga, tendered their joint official resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The three have joined the Janata Dal United (JDU).

The defectors claim that they have no hope left for the BJP which, despite claiming to be the largest political party in the world and having a majority mandate in the country, both at state and central unit, has failed miserably on its promises. According to the three, the BJP has failed especially on the lines of false hope given towards the Nagas on demand for early peaceful political solution.

The defectors have now put their aspiration for early Naga peaceful solution in Nitish Kumar, the present Chief Minister of Bihar, and Lalan Singh, MP and National President JDU, who according to them are genuinely committed and stands for early peaceful Naga political solution.

Nitish Kumar, on 11 October, during his visit to Dimapur stated: “My party will support an honourable solution to Naga Political issue and I will speak on this issue wherever I go, to draw support from other political parties.”

In their official resignation letter, the three defectors state that they see hope in Nitish Kumar as he is a capable leader and can himself be the Prime Minister of India someday.
