Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, Judge, Gauhati High Court & Executive Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh Legal Services Authority inaugurated the Legal Services Stall set up by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama during the 26th Hornbill Festival December 1.
Delivering a short speech after inaugurating the stall, Medhi expounded that the main purpose of the Stall is to reach out adding that people are in need of justice.
He encouraged the panel lawyers and para Legal Volunteers to reach out and let those needy access their rights and entitlements.
Taking instance of the Victim compensation scheme, the judge pointed out how the Supreme Court of India has mandated trial courts to speedily dispatch Victim compensation and added how it not required for victims to wait but claimed immediately.
Medhi lauded the State Legal Services Authority for proactively pursuing its mission in spreading awareness and organizing legal activities and noted that the workforce in the legal Authority has been working with transparency by documenting all activities which in turn garners more visibility.
He also called for sustaining the initiative for the benefit of the masses with renewed zeal.
The special guest also handed over Victim compensation Cheque to District Legal Services Authorities.
Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kohima cum Chairperson Kohima DLSA, Mezivolu T Therieh, NJS received the cheque on behalf of victim beneficiaries.

As part of the annual Hornbill Festival, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority will be setting up 10-Days Legal Services Stall to provide all legal services for free.
Earlier, Member Secretary, Neiko Akami, NJS led the programme and delivered welcome note. Akami shared the importance of setting up the Stall and informed that important laws and acts have been translated in local Naga dialects and Nagamese for those preferring language other than English.
At the Legal Services Stall, one can grab latest legal literature and booklets on New laws, acts, rules.
Visitors can take advantage of the service and seek legal advice/consultation on any matters and also get legal assistance/representation or clear your doubts on any Legal topics without incuring any charge.
One also know more about Lok Adalats, Mediation, Victim Compensation, the Legal Aid Defense Counsels & early release of Under Trial Prisoners & many more.
The services will be provided by the Para Legal Volunteer and Panel Lawyers on all the 10 days.
