A woman identified as Baghuni, aged around 50, was found dead on December 10 morning in what police have described as a case of suicide at a BSNL residential quarter located near the Main Post Office in Kohima.
According to information provided by the Kohima Police PRO, Soriso, the deceased—wife of BSNL employee Patek Basumatari—was discovered hanging by her 18-year-old son, Bilal, at around 7:25 a.m. Police stated that the husband was asleep in a separate room when the incident occurred. After discovering the body, the son alerted his father, and together they called neighbours before police arrived.
Police personnel carried out the required procedures at the site. As the family declined to conduct a post-mortem, the necessary legal documentation was completed. Investigators reported finding no indication of foul play and stated that the woman had taken her own life.
