Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL), a national-level organization dedicated to agri-based livelihood promotion, successfully concluded a three day training program on Modern Technologies of Horticulture Farming from December 18–20.
The training was held across three villages Samziuram, Jalukie B’, and Nkwareu with 50 participants in each location, totaling 150 farmers engaged in the initiative.
Supported by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, the program aimed to equip local farmers with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), sustainable farming methods, value addition techniques, and market linkages for better price realization, all aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Sam Taro, Resource Person from the (Spice Board of India, Dimapur Branch), delivered insightful sessions on government schemes benefiting farmers, modern horticulture techniques suited to the region, and the importance of organic farming. He urged participants to adopt chemical-free practices, preserve crop authenticity, and foster collective action among farmer groups to strengthen local food systems.
The training sparked enthusiasm among attendees, particularly women farmers, who pledged to abandon synthetic inputs and embrace natural cultivation methods. Interactive group discussions, moderated by Aakam Pame (Training Organizer), provided a platform for farmers to voice challenges and seek practical solutions.

Participants left with actionable plans to implement new skills in their fields, aiming for higher productivity, improved incomes, and sustainable farming futures.
