CTYO temporarily suspends blocked on truck movement on NH-2

Following a written request from Superintendent of Police Wokha and subsequent breakthrough made in the investigation process, the Chukitong Town Youth Organization (CTYO) has temporarily suspended its blockade imposed on truck movement on National Highway 2 under its jurisdiction to pave way for the investigation authority to book the absconding driver involved in the hit and run case on December 24.

In a letter to President, CTYO, SP Wokha, Relo T Aye expressed condolence on the unfortunate death of one of the CTYO members, late Meribemo Patton on December 24 during the hit and run incident on NH-2.

He mentioned that Wokha Police through a determined effort, was able to ascertain the details of the truck (NL-07 A/2482), which was involved in the incident and has been seized after observing all legal formalities. However, the accused driver-Chotalal Yadav (40) is absconding.

The SP stated that all efforts are being made by the district police to track and apprehend the accused driver at the earliest.

He also requested that the road blockade on NH-2 for heavy vehicles being enforced by CTYO with effect from December 26 in the Chukitong area be temporarily suspended to give reasonable time for the ongoing police investigation.

Meanwhile, the CTYO has warned that it would resume the road blockade on truck movements if the concerned authority fails to apprehend the accused driver during the anticipated period.
