The evening session of the 40th General Conference of the Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) on January 7 at Yezami Village was graced by Hetoho S Zhimomi, President of the Sumi Kukami Hoho, as the main speaker.
Speaking on behalf of the Zunheboto Tokujo Kuqhakulu Dimapur Union, Er Kakiye Khuju Jakha highlighted the growing youth population in India between the age group of 20 to 30 years. He stated that the Government of India is giving increased importance to youth development and urged students to identify their goals early and pursue the right profession. He also emphasized the importance of sustainability, adding that values and teachings, including biblical principles, lose relevance if not practised.
Representatives from the Zunheboto Tokujo Kuqhakulu Kohima Union encouraged taking up agricultural practices and advised responsible use of social media, stating that it should be used to positively impact society rather than influence negatively, including on matters related to church denominations.

Kivikhu Achumi of Hekiye Village challenged students of the Zunheboto area by announcing that he would donate one month of his pension to the first three toppers of the HSLC examinations.
The General Secretary of the Zunheboto Tokujo Kuqhakulu Kohima Union informed that plans are underway to organise coaching and seminar programmes for students and urged them to actively participate whenever such initiatives are announced.
In his address, Hetoho S Zhimomi, President of the Sumi Kukami Hoho, stated that children’s efforts alone are not sufficient and that parental support is equally important. He encouraged students to give thanks to God regardless of success or failure. Highlighting gender dynamics, he remarked that women are excelling in many fields and stressed the need to revive equal educational opportunities for both genders.
He further advised students to begin preparing from the high school level if they aspire to succeed in life and highlighted opportunities available through industrial and skill development departments, even for those who are school dropout. He mentioned that skills such as electrical work and content creation hold significant potential, even within one’s own hometown. He concluded by encouraging students to do their best, place God first in all endeavours, and prayed for God’s blessings upon all students.
The programme was chaired by Zato H. The invocation prayer was offered by Hetoka Z Sumi, Pastor of Newland Baptist Church, Yezami, while a special song was presented by the Kawoto Students’ Union. Greetings were delivered by representatives of the Zunheboto Tokujo Kuqhakulu from Dimapur/Chümoukedima and Kohima.
A drama was presented by the Lizu Old Students’ Union, followed by a felicitation programme honoring students who had cleared various examinations and achieved academic distinctions and other fields. Life testimonies and experiences were shared by Livino K Awomi, NPS (CESE) 2024 GT Science; Abotoli K Sumi, NSSB CETSE 2025, Soil Conservation Assistant; and Akivili N Chishi, Rank holder in BA History, Nagaland University 2024. The programme concluded with a benediction by Inokali APW Sukhalu Village.
