MoU signed between Rubber Board of India and Nagaland’s Department of Land Resources

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Rubber Board of India (RBI) and Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Government of Nagaland for setting up the Nodal Centre of National Institute for Rubber Training (NIRT) Rüzaphema, Chümoukedima, Nagaland. The MoU was signed on January 9 on the occasion of the NIRT silver jubilee celebration at Rubber Research Institute (RRI) Kottayam Kerala in the presence of George Kurian, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Chandy Oommen, MLA, M.Vasanthagesan IRS Executive Director, RBI, Dr. Siju. T Rubber Production Commissioner RPC, and Priya Varma, Director, NIRT alongside former Directors NIRT, and Senior Officials RBI.

According to a press release, the C. Vanchamo Ngullie, Additional Director DoLR, Nagaland congratulated the NIRT on 25 years of excellence. He expressed that the Department of Land Resources, Government of Nagaland is delighted to partner with NIRT, RBI.

“Our state has more than 4 lakh hectares suitable for Rubber cultivation, but only 20,000 hectares are developed so far. Expanding rubber cultivation can boost our rural economy. This MoU will positively impact ecosystem, conservation in our region,” stated Ngullie. He thanked the NIRT, RBI for partnering with the Department through Training and Development and said their support showed concern for the rural community.

“The department and RBI relationship is not new and with the inking of this MoU, it will strengthen our partnership more than ever to ensure that together we achieve a common objective and a vision to make our state to accomplish the 3 Es..Ecology, Employment and Economy,” added Ngullie. The Additional Director was accompanied by Project Officer Directorate, Department of Land Resources, Nagaland.
