An awareness programme on the Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and special rights available to women and girls under the Bharatiya Suraksha Sanhita, with special reference to the victim compensation provisions organised by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) in collaboration with the Yimkhiung Women Organisation on Thursday at Town hall, Shamator.

The main objective was to raise awareness among women and girls about the legal safeguards available to protect them from domestic violence and other forms of abuse.

During the session the key provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, including protection orders, residence rights and access to legal remedies were explained in a simple and understandable manner.

Special emphasis was given to the rights of women and girls under the Bharatiya Suraksha Sanhita particularly the victim compensation provisions, highlighting the support and financial assistance available to victims. Participants actively engaged in the discussion by shared their views and raising questions.
