Exhibition & Sale to mark 77th Republic Day at Secretariat Plaza Kohima

As part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, various departments of the Government of Nagaland would organize Exhibition & Sale at the Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on January 26, showcasing the State’s local enterprises, artisans, and entrepreneurs.

The exhibition aims to highlight government initiatives, indigenous products, public services, and local enterprises, while promoting entrepreneurship, sustainable livelihoods, and public awareness.

The Department of Industries & Commerce would display a range of locally manufactured products, including citronella and lemongrass oils, leather goods, beadworks, and handmade crochet items, reflecting local craftsmanship, creativity, and sustainable livelihoods.

The Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA) would feature food and agro-based products and handicrafts such as local rice varieties, millets, honey, aromatic tea, traditional bags, jewellery, books, and candles, promoting indigenous industries and rural entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services would organize an exhibition-cum-sale of local eggs, Milk and dairy products, live rabbits and quails, animal feed products, and will also distribute educational flyers to visitors.

The Department of Agriculture stall would showcase farm machineries suited to local farming conditions, post-harvest machineries, and awareness initiatives. Samples of various field crops including paddy, soybean, and millets grown in Nagaland will be displayed. Visitors can also purchase organically produced brown rice, winter vegetables, and other farm produce from farmers under Kohima district.

The Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) would present an exhibition on the theme “Honey for Entrepreneur Development,” highlighting the potential of beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood and promoting emerging honey entrepreneurs across the State. As part of the exhibition, the Mission will also showcase the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM), displaying value-added products derived from Minor Forest Produces (MFPs). The exhibition would feature honey from different bee species such as Apis cerana, stingless bees, and rock bees, along with bee by-products including beeswax candles, lip balm, soothe balm, and related items. It would also highlight the vital role of bees in pollination, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem sustainability, while promoting Self Help Groups (SHGs), beekeepers, and local entrepreneurs.

The Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) would be showcase eco-friendly bamboo products. Highlights will include bamboo trays, platters, tongs, tooth brushes, pen/pen stands, tongs, bamboo wall decors, fridge magnets, bamboo earrings & necklaces etc. The exhibition aims to highlight Nagaland’s role in sustainable, community-level, and commercially viable bamboo handicraft products.

Other participating departments include Nagaland Police, Department of Land Resources, Department of Co-operation, Department of Rural Development, Department of Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Department of Law & Justice, Department of Sericulture, Department of Urban Development, Department of Soil & Water Conservation, Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, and the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency.

The exhibition would serve as a vibrant platform for public engagement, promotion of local entrepreneurship, and the vision of a self-reliant and vibrant Nagaland economy.
