Wokha district marked the 77th Republic Day on January 26 with a ceremonial programme held at the Public Ground, featuring a parade, cultural presentations and the Beating of Retreat ceremony.
Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along, who attended the programme as the chief guest, unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and addressed the gathering.
Parade contingents from DEF Wokha, 7th NAP Wokha, District Home Guards & Civil Defence, Ex-Servicemen, Bharat Scouts & Guides Wokha, NCC Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chukitong, NCC Mount Tiyi College, Wokha and NCC Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha took part in the march past.

The programme also featured folk songs by the Wokha Town Lakhuti Women Cultural Club and the Wokha Town Longsa Women Cultural Group, showcasing the cultural heritage of the district.

The observance concluded in the evening with the Beating of Retreat by DEF Wokha. The Minister later inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up at the venue.
