A 16-member veteran football team from the 35+ Mokokchung Football League has left for Pune to represent Nagaland at the 8th National Masters Games, scheduled to be held from January 27 to 31, 2026. The event is organiZed by the Super Masters Games & Sports Federation of India.
Nagaland will field three men’s football teams at the national event: the 40+ teams from Dimapur and Mokokchung, competing as Team A and Team B respectively, and the 50+ team from Kohima. The Mokokchung 35+ Football League players will represent the state in the 40+ category.
The Mokokchung team is led by Team Manager Tatongrenla and Coach Mohan Ram Bhadu. The team underwent several practice sessions ahead of the tournament and played exhibition matches against teams from the Morning Premier League, Kohima, along with other players from the 35+ Mokokchung Football League.
The Mokokchung squad comprises N Jamonger Ao, N Chuba Phom, Lanuchuba Walling, Sentiyanger, Tsüpongtsüba, Tiayanger, Chumaksangba, Tiatoshi Imchen, Zululemba Ao, Repamangyang, Mliyapang Jamir, L Moakaba, Talilepba Jamir, Onen Toshi, Chubangangnen Imchen, and Sakutemjen Ao.
The team’s jersey was unveiled on January 24, 2026, by Vesupra Kezo, NPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung.

Besides football, the 8th National Masters Games will feature competitions in athletics, arm wrestling, badminton, hockey, kabaddi, powerlifting, swimming, volleyball, weightlifting, and yoga.
