The monthly DPDB meeting of Meluri was held under the chairmanship of Advisor, New & Renewable Energy and NSDMA and Chairman, DPDB Meluri, Z Nyusietho Nyuthe on February 10 at the DBs Court, Meluri.
During the meeting, the Chairman reviewed the agendas discussed in the previous DPDB meeting and deliberated regarding opposition to the adoption of the National Highway Act, 1956, where the Board resolved to forward the matter to the Government for necessary action.
The District Fishery Officer presented the activities, projects and schemes undertaken by the department in the district through PowerPoint presentation. While supplementing to the presentation, the Chairman emphasized the need for honest and effective implementation of departmental schemes so that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries. He further stated that Nagaland, particularly Meluri district, has vast potential for fishery development with suitable locations for fish ponds capable of producing sustainable quantities to meet local requirements and reduce dependence on imports from other states.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) also made a PowerPoint presentation. They have been stationed in the district for a 15-day assessment and familiarization programme. The presentation highlighted safety awareness initiatives and mock drills being conducted in selected locations with special focus on the Incident Response System (IRS).
The Chairman also highlighted the urgent need for upgradation of CHC Meluri and strengthening of other departments. Stressing the importance of sanitation, he urged all officers to extend responsible cooperation with the Government. He further directed all departments implementing developmental works to ensure proper supervision and timely execution so that the quality of development is not compromised.
