Abu Metha visits coaching camp of Pencak Silat Nagaland team

Dimapur: Athletes ambassadors and representatives of Nagaland and the Naga people once they don uniform

Advisor to Chief Minister and Secretary General of the Nagaland Olympic Association Abu Metha visited the ongoing coaching camp of the Pencak Silat Nagaland team for the upcoming National Games to be held in Goa, DIPR informed. The coaching camp is presently taking place in Dimapur district conducted under the aegis and sponsorship of the Nagaland Olympic Association.

During his visit, Metha met with the athletes, coaches, and officials of the association and urged the players and the members of the contingent to give their very best to bring laurels for the State. He reminded the team that apart from being players and athletes they are also ambassadors and representatives of Nagaland and the Naga people once they don the Nagaland uniform.

According to DIPR, Metha also appreciated the positive role played by the coaches and the officials of the association in lifting the discipline of Pencak Silat. He encouraged them to train hard, remain focused, and be committed to their goals so that they could win medals and make Nagaland proud. He wished them the very best and conveyed the hopes and aspirations of the entire sports fraternity.

Pencak Silat is a fighting sport which collectively encompasses martial arts of various styles originating from Indonesia. This form of fighting involves, striking, grappling techniques, and throwing.

Earlier he had also met and interacted with the Nagaland Sepaktakraw team undergoing coaching camp for the National Games at Chümoukedima district.
