Academic Reading and Writing Workshop at Nagaland University

A five-day “Academic Reading and Writing Workshop” (September 22 – 26) for PhD scholars, organised by the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University began on September 22 at the Department’s Conference Hall in the presence of Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University Prof JK Patnaik. The workshop is being held by the Department in association with RC01: Theory and Practice in Sociology, Indian Sociological Society. The resource person for the five days’ workshop is Prof Satish Deshpande, former Head and Professor, Department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics. Prof PS Vivek, the treasurer, Indian Sociological Society also graced the occasion.

The inaugural session was chaired by Prof Temjensosang, Department of Sociology. He introduced the resource person to the audience. Dr Suraj Beri, the Organising Secretary of the workshop highlighted the core objective of the research workshop, emphasising the need to invest in reading and writing in academics. There are 32 participants across departments from Nagaland University.

Chief Guest Prof JK Patnaik, in his speech on the occasion, remarked how fortunate the participants are, to be involved in such a professional-enriching programme, and encouraged them to make the most of it. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Dipika Paul.
