Adult Literacy Campaign launched at Yanthamo Village under Chukitong Block

Under the PRI-CDO convergence initiative, Zukhumki Federation NSRLM, Chukitong Block, in collaboration with the District Administration, Department of School Education, and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), launched the Adult Literacy Campaign at Yanthamo Village on August 6.

The launching programme was chaired by Ajanbeni Ngullie, Vice President of Zukhumki Federation.

Delivering the keynote address, SDO (Civil) Wokha, Echungbemo Erui, stressed the significance of adult literacy and stated that “learning has no age limit.” He encouraged the villagers to actively support the campaign, adding that basic literacy opens avenues for personal growth and empowerment.

Senior SDEO Wokha also addressed the gathering and urged the community to take full advantage of the initiative for both individual and social development.

Merithung Patton, Gender Specialist, DHEW, spoke on the objectives of Mission Shakti and highlighted the department’s continuous efforts in promoting literacy and gender inclusivity across all age groups.

Leaders of Yanthamo Village, including the Village Chairman, expressed full support for the campaign, while the Block Programme Manager, NSRLM, called upon all village-level organisations to participate meaningfully in the drive.
