S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland inaugurated the new approach road to Assam Rifles Camp at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on Wednesday, a DIPR report said. Thereafter, the Advisor attended a familiarization programme organised by the Department of YR&S.
At the programme, Advisor Keoshu reminded the gathering that it is the goal of the State Government to take Nagaland towards a ‘state of excellence’, and to fulfil this, the government employees should take their assignments seriously and help their concerned departments and the State to march ahead.
He also sought the cooperation of the staff and officers of YR&S Department, assuring that he would try his best to work for the betterment of the Department. Yimkhiung emphasised that the YR&S Department has a huge role to play in ‘youth empowerment,’ which can only be fulfilled if all the officials play their respective roles with full dedication and sincerity.

Delivering the welcome address, Commissioner & Secretary, YR&S, Wezope Kenye, IAS said that the Department is fortunate to have a young and dynamic leader as the new Advisor of the Department, and expressed hope that under his leadership, the Department will continue to take up many new innovative activities and bridge the gaps in the Department.
Highlighting the core functioning and activities of the Department, Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Akumla Chuba informed that talent hunt in various sports disciplines across the districts, free coaching camps in different disciplines, refreshers courses for DSOs/Coaches, etc. are conducted. She also mentioned that at present, 22 associations are being given grant-in-aid according to their performance by the Department.
The State has two Sports Academy at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima and Sports Hostel at Dimapur.
Various departmental activities were presented by the department units – National Cadet Corps, Bharat Scouts & Guides, National Social Service, Task Force for Music & Arts, and Engineering Wing, the report stated.
