Advisor TN Manen encourages Nagaland law students to refine, codify, standardize customary laws

Kohima: Imliben Lemtur urges students to remember duty in shaping a future where justice is not just a notion but a lived reality

TN Mannen, IAS (retd.), Advisor for Law & Justice, Land Revenue, on Tuesday graced the 25th anniversary of the Nagaland Law Students’ Federation where he emphasized the students’ pivotal role in the future of the legal profession and encouraged them to refine, codify, and standardize the customary laws so that they can fit in the modern society.

According to DIPR, the Advisor, speaking during the Introductory Function at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima stressed the significant role of the legal profession especially in addressing Naga political issues, Nagaland-Assam border issues, and Customary Laws.

TN Mannen urged students to be mindful of their duty to serve the public interest, uphold the rule of law, and promote social justice to ensure justice, fairness, and equality in society.

He extended heartfelt congratulations to the Federation on its 25th anniversary and lauded the it’s tireless efforts in promoting legal education and contributing to the development of the legal profession. Advisor TN Mannen encouraged students to seize opportunities provided by the Law Federation and college to expand their knowledge, gain practical experience, and build a strong professional network.

Imliben Lemtur, the 1st woman President of Nagaland Law Students’ Federation, expressed that the celebration marked not only the passage of time but a journey of relentless dedication to intellectual persuasion and an unwavering commitment to pursuing justice. Lemtur acknowledged the challenges in the legal system and urged students to remember their duty in shaping a future where justice is not just a notion but a lived reality.

Lemtur thanked esteemed guests from the legal field for their presence and encouraged law students to strive for excellence and dedication in their shared goal. She expressed hope that the principles of equity and justice would guide them in shaping the legal landscape in Nagaland.

Alumni member Hukato paid homage to the pioneers and well-wishers of the federation. The program was held under the theme “Forging Equitable Justice.”
