Advisory issued for Chathe-Kukidolong stretch after rock fall hits vehicle

Chümoukedima: Travellers advised not to commute along stretch during heavy rainfall

Following the incident of rock fall at the Chathe (Patkai) Bridge towards Kukidolong (Paglapahar stretch) in Chümoukedima on the National Highway 29 on Friday, the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, has issued an Advisory along the stretch noting its vulnerability for public commute.

Earlier today, a vehicle was hit by rock fall causing injuries to the occupants. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported.

On 4th July 2023, two persons were killed in a similar incident on the same stretch.

The Advisory stated:

“Therefore, in the interest of public safety, the following advisories are hereby issued for kind adherence of the commuters along the noted vulnerable National Highway stretch; especially during the current incessant rainfall:

  1. Travellers are advised not to commute along the noted vulnerable National Highway stretch during the incessant/ heavy rainfall.
  2. Nonessential movement along the noted vulnerable National Highway stretch should be avoided.
  3. Travelling during night time along the noted vulnerable National Highway stretch should be avoided.
  4. Nonessential stoppage along the noted National Highway stretch should be avoided.
  5. Travellers are advised to maintain safe distance along the vulnerable area of the National Highway and shall maintain extreme caution.”
