Advocate CT Jamir highlights need for addressing shortage of legal professionals in Nagaland

Kohima: Two-day Silver Jubilee celebration of Nagaland Law Students’ Federation concludes

Senior Advocate C T Jamir, Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench on Wednesday highlighted the issue of shortage of law students, lawyers, and judges in Nagaland and the importance of addressing it. According to DIPR, he urged law students to work hard and aspire to become judges or advocates, playing a crucial role in delivering equitable justice to all.

The Advocate was speaking at the valedictory function that marked the conclusion of the two-day silver jubilee celebration of the Nagaland Law Students’ Federation.

Advocate C T Jamir highlights the evolving landscape of legal practice and the challenges faced in contemporary legal proceedings. He provided valuable insights into the changing dynamics of the legal field, especially with the increasing use of digital revolution and Artificial Intelligence in court hearings, DIPR said. Advocate C T Jamir advised the law students to aspire to become competent lawyers, considering the advancements in technology and the legal profession.

The Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Nagaland Law Students’ Federation was held at the Capital Convention Centre, New Secretariat Road, Kohima under the theme “Forging Equitable Justice”.

During the inaugural program on 12th December 2023, Special Guest Sharingian Longkhumer, Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, emphasized the importance of high-value practices through which the federation and law students can contribute meaningfully to the people of the state.

In his Presidential Address, T. Tohuka Achumi, President of NLSF, expressed gratitude and recognition for the contributions of the early leaders who devoted their time and efforts to establish the Nagaland Law Students’ Federation in 1998. He encouraged the present generation of leaders and law students to value and uphold the legacy created by their predecessors.
