The Ahngs of Konyak villages have on Tuesday pledged solidarity with ENPO’s Chen Moho resolution (23 February 2024) and the Konyak Union Resolution (23 March 2024) to abstain from participating in the upcoming Lok Sabha election on 19th April 2024.

“As the heads of our respective villages, we vow to ensure the full abstention of our subjects and people, standing in solidarity with the ENPO’s call to abstain from voting,” the kings/chiefs affirmed.

While condemning the failure of both the State and Central governments in fulfilling the promise given to the ENPO to grant Frontier Nagaland Territory, the Ahngs of Konyak villages stated that this “unfulfilled commitment strikes at the heart of our trust in the governmental process and our collective aspirations.”

Refraining from the electoral process serves as a “powerful testament to our deep-seated resentment and protest against broken promises and unfulfilled obligations,” they added in their statement.

The Ahngs also said informed that they shall “initiate any course of actions against those subjects or individual failing to adhere to the ENPO and KU resolution within our respective jurisdictions” as per the directives of the Konyak Civil Societies.
