Aids, assistive devices distributed to PwDs, senior citizens in Wokha under ADIP and RVY schemes

Wokha: DC urges PwDs and senior citizens to take advantage of various schemes designed by Govt to empower them

Along with the rest of the country, Wokha district on 24th September 2023 distributed aids and assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and senior citizens under the Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) schemes, DPRO Wokha informed.

Altogether 328 beneficiaries across the districts received the various aids and assistive devices under the initiatives of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a public undertaking under the banner of Samajik Adhikarita Shivir (SAS).

Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, after launching the program thanked ALIMCO and also urged the PwDs and senior citizens to take advantage of the various schemes designed by the Government of India to empower them and to provide them with a respectable and dignified life.

CEO, National Trust K. R. Vaidheeswaran graces the occasion to oversee and monitor the entire distribution process.

District Welfare Officer (DWO) Wokha, James Ezung chaired the program and delivered the keynote address.

The main objective of ADIP Scheme is to assist the needy Persons with Disabilities in procuring durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation by reducing the effects of disabilities and enhance their economic potential.

RVY scheme provides physical aids and assisted-living devices for senior citizens belonging to BPL category.
