Airfares to the only airport in Nagaland has seen a significant increase as demands surged in view of the Hornbill Festival and the Christmas season.
A one-way flight on Indigo non-stop from New Delhi to Dimapur on 4th December (Monday) will cost almost Rs 20,000 while the Air India flight with a layover at Kolkata is priced around Rs 18,500.
Travelling on the same day by air from Kolkata to Dimapur Airport on Indigo is around Rs 16,800 while Air India’s fare is around Rs 18,000.
The Air India flight from Guwahati to Dimapur that is completed in less than an hour and normally costs around Rs 2500 has now surged to Rs 14,139.

Nagaland is usually busy with travellers in the month of December as citizens living outside the State return home to spend the holiday season with their families. The Hornbill Festival adds to this frenzy and this year, more tourists are expected than before, after two years of toned-down celebrations.
On the first day of the annual event, the Directorate of Tourism, Government of Nagaland stated that 16,446 people attended the festival at the Heritage Village in Kisama, Kohima. The Department also informed that while 11,985 were local tourists from Nagaland, 4108 persons were attending from across India and 353 tourists had come from outside the country. The Department had registered 157 foreign tourists and 3,205 domestic tourists on the opening day of last year’s Hornbill Festival.
The good news is that travellers coming to Nagaland will get some relieve after 10th December, the day the 24th Hornbill Festival culminates.
