The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has expressed deep condolences on the passing away of Zubeen Garg, describing him as one of the most cherished cultural figures of Assam and the Northeast.

In a condolence message, AKM noted that over the course of his career, Garg sang in more than nine languages and recorded thousands of songs across diverse genres, including folk, classical, modern, devotional, and popular music. His work earned him admiration not only in Assam but across India and abroad, making him a household name whose voice reached millions.

The message highlighted that beyond his music, Garg’s humility, social concern, and close connection with people made him beloved far beyond the stage.

“At this hour of grief, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, his family members, and loved ones,” the AKM stated. It further conveyed condolences to his countless fans, the people of Assam, and admirers across the North East and the country who are mourning his loss.

The AKM added that his passing leaves a void in the world of music and in the hearts of many, but his songs and the memories attached to them will continue to remain alive.
