The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has expressed strong opposition to the transfer of Dr. Rongsenneken, Junior Specialist (General Surgery), from the Chest Disease & TB Hospital in Mokokchung without first appointing a replacement.
In a Press statement issued today, AKM said the transfer order, issued by the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare on August 1, 2025, would disrupt essential healthcare services at the 50-bedded TB hospital, which also serves patients from neighbouring districts.
The organisation noted that Dr. Rongsenneken has been overseeing the facility in the absence of a dedicated Medical Officer.

While acknowledging administrative procedures, AKM maintained that enforcing the transfer without ensuring a replacement — preferably a Medical Officer — would jeopardise the continuity of treatment for TB patients.
The student body reiterated that it would not permit the transfer to be effected until a Medical Officer has been appointed and assumed duty. It urged the Health & Family Welfare Department to retain the current doctor until a replacement is in place to avoid interruptions in patient treatment.
