AKM, SKK call off ‘indefinite shutdown’ following Advisor Yhome’s apology

Mokokchung: Student bodies appeal to all stakeholders to continue fostering atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding

Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) and All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) has announced that they have decided to call off the proposed indefinite shutdown of government offices and institutions, and educational institutions under Mokokchung and Zunheboto districts.

“After careful consideration and in light of recent developments, including the apology letter issued by Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, MLA & Advisor School Education/SCERT and the government’s response, we hereby declare that the proposed shutdown stands nullified,” the student bodies stated in the joint press release.

Earlier today, a leaked information claimed that the student bodies planned to impose an indefinite shutdown starting 27th February 2024 in protest of the controversial remark made by the Advisor Dr Yhome.

“We appreciate the gesture of apology extended by the Advisor and acknowledge the importance of maintaining dialogue and constructive engagement in addressing concerns affecting our communities,” AKM and SKK stated.

Further, the student bodies appealed to all stakeholders “to continue fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding, conducive to the well-being and progress of our society.”
