AKM suspends agitation after govt assures to address staff shortage issue at IMDH

The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has decided to suspend its ongoing agitation against the government’s failure to address the issue of shortage of staff at the Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung.

This was announced in a press statement issued on 17th March 2025, by Onenpong, Vice President, AKM and Satemmongba, General Secretary, AKM. The student body stated that the agitation would be suspended with immediate effect in view of the Order by the that the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland that “officially highlighted the transfer and posting of medical officers, along with directives to ensure the immediate availability of healthcare personnel at IMDH, Mokokchung to meet the demands of the AKM.”

This decision is made in good faith, recognizing the efforts undertaken by the department to resolve the matter, AKM added. continue to closely monitor the implementation of the directives and agreed-upon measures to ensure our concerns are fully addressed

Additionally, the AKM strongly urged the Government of Nagaland to immediately conduct the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) Examinations without delay to address the shortage of doctors and other essential personnel in the healthcare sector.
