The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has appealed the to Government of Nagaland to allocate funds for the construction of fire stations in all sub-divisions under Mokokchung district on top priority.

In a press release issued today, the AKM expressed concern over the recent devastating fire that broke out in Mangkolemba town resulting in the destruction of five private residences, two shops and adjoining godowns.

“This tragic incident has highlighted the urgent need for the establishment of a fire station in all the sub- divisions under Nagaland to prevent similar tragedies in the future. It is evident that the lack of proper firefighting facilities has led to significant losses in terms of property and livelihood. To address this pressing issue, we urge the government to allocate funds for the construction of fire stations in all sub-divisions under Mokokchung district on top priority,” implored the Organisation.

Further, the AKM also extended solidarity with the fire victims and urged upon everyone to support the affected families during these challenging times.

“In times of adversity, we are reminded of the strength and resilience of our diverse community. Let us come together as one to offer support and solidarity to those facing hardships,” stated the organisation, also extended its support to the demands put forward by Temjenmenba, MLA and Advisor for Transport & Technical Education, Nagaland.

Mangkolemba sub-division being one of the oldest sub-divisons in Nagaland which covers the ranges of Jangpetkong, Japukong and Tzürangkong has been one of the most neglected areas with poor road connectivity, viewed the AKM.  “The government should take this issue into consideration and provide a Fire Station service at the earliest for timely responses during emergencies. We believe that by taking proactive measures and investing in necessary infrastructure such as Fire Stations, we can effectively prevent and mitigate the impact of such disasters in the future,” added the AKM.
